Translanguaging in STEAM-Focused Italian Language Instruction

In collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Amherst – Department of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies

Dear Italian language teachers and professors,

we are pleased to invite you to the new training course “Translanguaging in STEAM-Focused Italian Language Instruction.”
This innovative program explores how translanguaging can enhance both linguistic development and STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), and how it can be effectively integrated with bilingual approaches and CLIL methodologies.

Why Join

Participants will gain a clear theoretical foundation and engage in hands-on, collaborative activities, both in person and online, including the co-design of curriculum units and practical applications for the classroom.

The speakers will include Professors Carla Bagna (Universita’ per Stranieri di Siena), Maria Grazia Sindoni (University of Messina), and Marialuisa Di Stefano (UMass Amherst).

Course Structure

  • 3 sessions: 2 online + 1 in person
  • Open to: teachers of all school and university levels
  • Cost: entirely free of charge
  • Final Certificate: participants will receive a certificate granting Professional Development Points (PDP)
