2024 Start-of-Year Aperitif – 26 SEPTEMBER

The event “Aperitivo di Inizio Anno,” organized by the Association of Italian Students Clubs, took place as an opportunity for Italian students in Boston to meet and network.

The evening offered an informal setting to socialize, share experiences, and strengthen the sense of community. Participants were able to establish new connections and kick off the academic year in a friendly and dynamic environment.


Visit of the Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Delegation – 5 September 2024

On September 5, 2024, a delegation from Banca Intesa Sanpaolo visited Boston, with a program spanning research and industry. Meetings were held at centers of excellence such as MIT and local high-tech companies, including Boston Dynamics. The visit continued with a working lunch and networking with representatives from the banking, academic, and business sectors, providing insights into opportunities offered by Massachusetts.


On May 27, 2024, Italian Trade Commissioner Erica Di Giovancarlo, Director of the ITA Office in New York and coordinator of the network in the United States, visited Boston. The mission focused on strengthening economic and commercial relations between Italy and Massachusetts. During the visit, institutional meetings were held with representatives of local and international organizations, fostering new opportunities for collaboration between the two systems.


Research Day 2024 – 11 April 2024

 

National Research / Scientific Innovation Day – a meeting with Prof. Federico Capasso from Harvard University was held at the Consulate.

During the talk, the Professor presented the topic “Reinventing Lenses,” illustrating the evolution of his research towards the concept of flat lenses and highlighting its significant implications for science and technology, particularly in consumer markets.

The event helped promote Boston as the Capital of Italian Creativity in the World.

DINNER OF THE ITALIAN PROFESSORS OF NEW ENGLAND – 4 APRIL

 

On April 4, 2024, a networking dinner for Italian professors in Boston was held at Eataly.

Consul General Arnaldo Minuti presented the year of “Boston – Capital of Italian Creativity in the World,” while scientific advisor Paolo Gaudenzi illustrated the activities of the first semester and future prospects.

The event represented an important opportunity for visibility and cohesion within the Italian academic community and allowed for a census of Italian scientists active in the local ecosystem.

PRESENTATION OF THE IIT STRATEGIC PROGRAM – 27 MARCH

 

The event presenting the 2024–2030 strategic plan of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia was held at the Consulate General of Italy in Boston.

Prof. Giorgio Metta presented the main development lines of IIT to an audience of young researchers and PhD students. The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss the prospects of Italian research and international collaborations.


Meeting with the University of Torino – 29 March 

On March 29, 2024, an intense week of meetings in Boston concluded for the delegation of the University of Turin, led by Rector Prof. Stefano Geuna. The visit was part of the university’s internationalization strategy, with a focus on innovation, research, and biotechnology. The Consulate General facilitated networking between the delegation and the local academic and professional community, strengthening dialogue between Turin and Boston.


Innovation, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence – 28 March

On March 28, 2024, “Innovazione / Robotica / Intelligenza Artificiale,” a meeting dedicated to innovation, robotics, and artificial intelligence, was held. Prof. Giorgio Metta, Director of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, engaged with a group of Italian post-docs and PhD students active in Boston, offering an important opportunity to discuss both basic and applied research and to stimulate new ideas and potential collaborations.


CAREERS 2024 – 21 March

On March 21, 2024, CAREERS, a networking event organized by the Consulate General for Italian students enrolled at Boston universities, took place. The initiative involved numerous testimonials from various professional fields, providing an important forum for discussion and fostering dialogue between academia and the professional world, helping to strengthen the Italian community network locally.


ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2024 – 15 March

 

On March 15, 2024 – Italian Design Day / Italian Creativity – the program “Boston – Capital of Italian Creativity 2024” was inaugurated, starting a series of initiatives to promote Italian creativity in the city.

The event featured Prof. Paolo Ciuccarelli, a prominent figure in the design sector, who shared his experience and vision, marking the beginning of a series of thematic appointments.
