Eduitalia Scholarships Award ceremony

BOSTON October 27, 2020. On 21 October, the award ceremony for the scholarships offered by the Eduitalia Association to 23 students from American high schools who successfully passed the AP Italian language exam in 2020 was held in virtual mode. The ceremony took part during the XX Week of the Italian Language in the world.

The 2518 registered AP Italian exams by the College Board are a very significant number considering the difficulties faced by the students to pass the exam in the new oral format after the interruption of classes in presence since March. This result has rewarded the excellent work of teachers and the entire US network from consulates to school offices through their directors, to the Enti Gestori that are key players in promoting the Italian language and culture.

The ceremony hihglighted the great contribution of Eduitalia, historical partner of the consular diplomatic network in the United States in the promotion of the Italian language. Since 2012 Eduitalia has offered 223 scholarships to Italian students and since 2016, following the request of the Embassy’s school office, also to 7 teachers.

Eduitalia scholarships will allow deserving AP students to spend three to five weeks in Italy at one of the associated language schools with the possibility of living an experience of total immersion in the Italian language and culture.

The ceremony, coordinated by the Embassy of Italy in Washington, was held with the Consulates of Boston, Houston, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco and with Dr. Emmanuel Maio, in charge of Eduitalia, from Florence.

The award ceremony ended with the hope that students will be able to return to study in Italy from the summer of 2021 in an atmosphere of trust and that the event will be a sign of a relaunch of the promotion of the Italian language in 2021.
