November 7 2018 – Medford High School – Italian Consul General Federica Sereni Meets With Superintendent Dr. Edouard-Vincent

Today, in Bistro 489, Ms. Federica Sereni, the Italian Consul General, met with Superintendent Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent, to continue the 23 year partnership between the Consulate General of Italy and the Medford Public Schools. With both a new Consul General in Ms. Sereni and a new Superintendent of Schools in Dr. Edouard-Vincent, it was important the two met to discuss their priorities for the future.

Also in attendance was: Ms. Maria Gioconda Motta, M. Ed., Executive Director of Education, for C.A.S. IT, Associate Superintendent Diane Caldwell, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Foreign Language Dr. Bernadette Ricciardelli, Lead Teacher for Foreign Language Vilma Bibeau, and former School Committee Member Ann Marie Cugno. C.A.S. IT is the state’s leading organization in promoting the Italian language in Massachusetts schools.

Dr. Edouard-Vincent and Consul General Sereni discussed different educational opportunities, internship possibilities and the potential of both student and teacher international exchanges. Superintendent Dr. Edouard-Vincent stated; “We are excited to continue this partnership with the Consulate General of Italy in Boston. As we are all aware, we now live in a global society and programs such as this are very important for our students. It is a win-win for our district and our community”.

The breakfast meeting was provided by the culinary arts students, under the direction of instructors Robert Drobneck and Dennis Moriaty. The students set out homemade “Jordan Marsh” blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and coffee. The meeting was held in the Foundry Meeting Room within the Bistro. Special thanks to Ann Marie Cugno and MVTHS Principal Chad Fallon for their assistance in helping to arrange this important meeting.
