Theft/loss of passport
a) In the event that an Italian citizen resident within this Consular jurisdiction (MA, RI, NH, VT, ME) claims a passport as lost or stolen and wants to request a new passport, he/she must book an appointment online (click here) and present the Passport Office of this Consulate General the following, together with the above mentioned documentation :
1. Police Report of theft or loss of said passport issued by the local Police Department;
2. Valid photo ID.
b) If an Italian citizen whom is not resident within this Consular jurisdiction (MA, RI, NH, VT, ME) has a passport related emergency, this Consulate General is able to issue a travel document – ETD (Emergency Travel Document) – valid for one trip back to Italy. In this case, the Italian citizen may present him or herself directly to the Consulate with the following documents
- Police Report of theft or loss of said passport, or of any other travel documents, by the local Police Department
- 2 (two) Passport pictures in European Format (35mm by 40mm or 1.5” x 1.5”)
- Airline Ticket
- Copy of lost/stolen passport or other valid ID (drivers license, carta d’identita/ID Card)
- Money Order or Cashier Check for the total amount due (please click here for passport prices). If need be, Money Orders may be purchased at the Credit Union Bank located on the 4thfloor of the building in which the Consulate General is located
